At Michigan State University, I was part of Honors College Impact during the summer of 2020. The week-long summer project included introductions to various community organizations in East Lansing, along with community-building exercises. In tandem, I took a “Big Ideas Seminar,” where I researched educational inequity and volunteered for over 20 hours at Eastside Community Action Center virtually.
Because of my involvement, I was nominated for Honors College First-Year Council. FYC is a leadership and enrichment community. We learned goal-setting and career-building, while also listening to speakers regarding topics such as implicit bias.
Since I’ve been involved in the program by serving on the 2020-2021 “HC Impact” Planning Commission and interviewing/hiring applicants for 2021-2022 program mentors.
